The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey for those who would like to explore the Catholic faith and prepare for initiation into the Church. It is meant first of all for those who have never been Baptized seeing full initiation at the Easter Vigil. But elements of RCIA are also helpful for Christians of other denominations who wish to become Catholic as well as adult Catholics preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Meetings consist of lessons on various topics related to our faith, Scriptural reflections, and faith sharing. Along the way, catechists help those who attend to become more involved into the life of the Church, especially by attending Sunday Mass and other activities. RCIA at St. Francis de Sales is led Sister Alice Marie Daly, IHM.

Those interested in embarking on this journey of faith are invited to contact Sister Alice at 215-222-5819 for more information. All parishioners are encouraged to invite a friend, co-worker, or family member to inquire about the Catholic faith and are welcome to accompany anyone interested to the initial meetings. As Pope Francis reminds us repeatedly, all of us are called to spread the joy of the Gospel to those we know. As he once wrote, “Faith is born of an encounter with the living God who calls us and reveals his love, a love which precedes us and upon which we can lean for security and for building our lives. Transformed by this love, we gain fresh vision, new eyes to see; we realize that it contains a great promise of fulfilment, and that a vision of the future opens up before us. Faith, received from God as a supernatural gift, becomes a light for our way, guiding our journey through time.”
